Share this articleThis year, Nazarbayev University (NU) has seen a record number of applicants.
The total number of applications is 40% higher than in previous years, with over 10,000 individuals applying for admission. Around 3,000 of them have been admitted and will begin their studies at NU.
NU President Dr. Waqar Ahmad highlighted that the growing interest in the university, both in Kazakhstan and abroad, is largely due to its rising position in global rankings:
“According to Times Higher Education (THE), which ranks the world's top research-intensive universities, NU is now in the top 24–29% globally. In addition, NU’s Graduate School of Education is the only institution in Central Asia to be ranked among the top 200 in the world. Such recognition has drawn international attention to NU — we received hundreds of applications from prospective students representing 45 countries, including China, Russia, the United States, countries of Central Asia, and Europe.”
The academic quality of this year’s cohort is also notable: incoming students have an average IELTS score of 7.0 and an average SAT score of 1350.
