The National Library of Kazakhstan hosted an international roundtable titled “Love All Mankind...”, dedicated to reinterpreting the spiritual legacy of Abai Kunanbay in today’s humanitarian and leadership contexts.
One of the keynote speakers was Professor Gultas Kurmanbai – a leading Abai scholar and Head of the Center of National Culture at Nazarbayev University. Her presentation, “Abai’s Wisdom: Civil Responsibility and Leadership Capacity,” offered deep insights into how Abai’s teachings can help shape leadership culture and civic values in the modern era.
Professor Kurmanbai emphasized the importance of Abai’s philosophy in fostering a spirit of national reflection and cultivating humanistic values in the younger generation. Her ideas sparked keen interest among academics and the broader public.
The roundtable also highlighted the international initiatives of the Abai Institute under the Sh. Shayakhmetov National Scientific and Practical Center “Til-Qazyna,” which has become a unique platform for teaching Kazakh as a foreign language. Among the authors of educational resources developed through the institute’s offline courses are faculty members of Nazarbayev University, who have significantly contributed to Kazakh language education using modern, globally recognized methods.
The active involvement of NU scholars in such international dialogues reflects the university’s academic leadership and its role in promoting national heritage on the global stage.
