A team led by Askar Tazhanov, a first-year Master of Public Administration at NU, secured the first place among 8 teams, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication.
“I really enjoyed working together with students from foreign universities and being on equal terms with them. The high-quality education at NU allows us to compete internationally. We were the only country from Central Asia, and I think it is good that we participated and let the world know that we are able to compete and win,” shared Askar.

Meanwhile, another team from the Master of Public Policy program was shortlisted in the top 3 teams. “NASPAA competition and its results proved to me the effectiveness of teaching methods at GSPP, as well as its applicability and international standard that made it possible to rank this high,” said the team’s captain Kamila Zhexekeyeva.

Globally recognized NASPAA Student Modeling Competition is held in 13 universities worldwide, and is organized by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration, an international association and accreditation body of public affairs schools. The participants solved cases in 5 rounds via a special NASPAA platform. The cases focused on developing policies for hosting migrants, emphasizing human rights, national budget considerations, and relations with neighboring states.
