NU has taken active measures to support the victims of the country's flood situation. The university's management and staff came forward with the initiative of NU's solidarity with citizens affected by the flood. Student organizations such as NU Volunteers, NU Red Crescent, and the Children Development Foundation have also joined the charity campaign. Students in addition to collecting money for medicines and necessities, organized warm clothing collection boxes on the university campus.
The funds raised were used to purchase sump pumps, gasoline-powered electric generators, motor pumps, rubber boots, diapers, bed kits and hygiene products. It was decided to send the essentials to the Kostanay region, where the declared local natural emergency regime is still in effect. About 10 thousand people have been rescued and evacuated in the region from the flooded areas.
NU students and staff strive to be active participants in community life, giving back through charitable activities and volunteer programs.
