Deputies from the Senate and Majlis Committees on Social and Cultural Development and Science, alongside Cabinet members, focused on forthcoming political and economic reforms. Key attention was paid to the national referendum on constructing a nuclear power plant.
Senate Committee Chairman Zhussip Nurtore underscored that the 2024 Address builds upon reforms from previous State Addresses and the President’s electoral platform. He noted that the President focused on systemic economic reforms aimed at improving citizens' quality of life — a central objective of the nine priority areas.
“The President’s message outlines nearly one hundred initiatives. Among the most significant is setting a date for the national referendum on nuclear power plants, a long-debated issue in society. The referendum represents the 'Listening State' concept and the vision of a Fair Kazakhstan. The Address also highlighted key public concerns, including internet fraud, military discipline, drug trafficking, and the shortage of teachers and healthcare workers. Another significant focus is the development of artificial intelligence and its integration into Kazakhstan's digital platforms to enhance the nation's digital infrastructure,” Senator said.
The meeting also covered progress in implementing the President’s directives to foster socio-economic development in the country’s regions.
