Share this articleOn April 28, students, staff and guests of NU celebrated the spring holiday on a grand scale, arranging festivities and an outdoor concert.
In line with the mood of the guests, the weather on celebration day happened to be especially bright: the sun was shining and the infamous Astana wind was calm for once. On the outdoor stage of the University, a concert was organised by the students, as they have played national instruments, danced kazakh traditional dances, and sang songs.
In his celebratory speech, president Shiego Katsu has congratulated all the students, the teachers, and the guests with the upcoming Nauryz holiday in kazakh, wishing everyone to stay healthy and achieve all of their goals.
Among other events, one was particularly memorable: the fashion show featuring the modern adaptations of the kazakh traditional clothes, performed for the students and the guests. The fans of handcrafts have also been left content: for them, pottery workshops and an exhibition were organized, where they could see exponents hand-made by students.
All guests have had the opportunity to try kazakh national cuisine: freshly baked baursaks and traditional nauryz kozhe. NU students were proud to share kazakh culture with their foreign peers and faculty members.
The celebration was continued with the special quest on kazakh traditions and national sport games. All guests have had a chance to ride altybakans and show their talents on the open mic.
