Share this articleOrientation Week at NU began on August 2 this year and will culminate on August 10 with the official convocation ceremony. A total of 3,000 people have opened a new page in their lives, which marks the 15th influx of students.
This academic year more than 600 foundation students (NUFYP), nearly 1,500 undergraduates, and more than 800 masters and PhD students start their journey. This includes 150 international students - the largest number in fifteen years.
“Today marks the beginning of a remarkable learning journey for all of us; no doubt, it will be filled with challenges, discoveries, and triumphs. At NU, we believe in nurturing not only the minds but also the characters of our students. We are dedicated to providing you with the resources, opportunities, and support you need to help you grow academically and personally,” said NU President Dr. Waqar Ahmad at the welcoming session.

In his speech, he emphasized that the university adheres to high standards of ethical behavior, especially academically, which allowed it to enter the top 30% of research-intensive universities in the world, the top 11% of universities in Asia, and become 106th among young universities globally.
Throughout the week, students will find out which subjects to choose and how to register for them, meet their professors, move into the dormitory, learn about various services on campus, and delve deeper into the academic and other rules of the university. Orientation week is a series of sessions, meetings and events where recent applicants get acquainted with all the possibilities and services the university infrastructure and the nuances of student life. NU has held orientation weeks since its inception. They are designed to facilitate the adaptation of incoming students.
