SEM (scanning electron microscopy) plays a very important role in archaeological research. This seminar aims to deepen understanding, through both lectures and practical training in SEM usage, of how replicas of seeds and textiles on pottery can be casted and observed by SEM to reconstruct past fiber (plant/animal) use, and how elemental analysis using SEM-EDS can be used to reconstruct ceramic production techniques. The event is organized by the Anthropology Laboratory and the C4 wing.
