We are delighted to announce an upcoming talk by Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director and Chairwoman of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Ms Georgieva will talk on "Paving the Way to More Resilient, Inclusive, and Green Economies in Kazakhstan and the CCA," which will be held in Orange Hall on June 8, 2023, at 14.30.

Kristalina Georgieva is a highly respected economist and a prominent global leader. As the Managing Director and Chairwoman of the IMF, she has played a pivotal role in shaping international economic and financial policies and promoting sustainable economic development worldwide. In this dialogue, Ms Georgieva will share her valuable insights on the strategies and opportunities for building resilient, inclusive, and green economies in Kazakhstan and the Central Asia and Caucasus (CCA) region.

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1953, Ms Georgieva holds a PhD in Economic Science and an M.A. in Political Economy and Sociology from the University of National and World Economy (Sofia, Bulgaria). Kristalina Georgieva currently serves as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, a position she was selected for on September 25, 2019, and has served since October 1, 2019. Before joining the IMF, Ms Georgieva was CEO of the World Bank from January 2017 to September 2019, during which time she also served as Interim President of the World Bank Group for three months.

This event provides a unique opportunity for the NU community to gain valuable knowledge and engage in a thought-provoking discussion on the path towards sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the public are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the chance to learn from one of the world's foremost experts in the field.
