The NU SOM Hematology Residency Program is a five-year postgraduate training program designed to develop medical doctors into highly competent general internists with subspecialty expertise in Hematology. The program equips residents with hands-on procedural experience, evidence-based clinical training, and a strong foundation in research. The curriculum follows the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) core competencies, and residents will rotate through various general internal medicine and hematology inpatient services and outpatient clinics.

The aims of the Hematology Residency Program are:
To educate residents according to the six ACGME core competencies in the field of Hematology (Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, System-Based Practice)
To train MD graduates to become general internists and Hematology specialists who are able to apply their knowledge and skills in clinical and scholarly activities;
To prepare hematology specialists who meet the current needs of the Kazakhstan population, including in rural and urban areas.
Graduates of the Hematology Residency Program will be equipped for careers in various fields, including:
Academic hematology, engaging in teaching and research.
Clinical hematology, working in hospitals, specialized hematology centers, and outpatient settings.
Further subspecialty training in hematologic oncology, bone marrow transplantation, and transfusion medicine.
Leadership roles in healthcare administration and policy development.
