The Pediatric Surgery Residency Program is a 5-year program that includes step-by-step study and mastery of all aspects of pediatric surgical care at the outpatient and inpatient levels. Pediatric surgery is the most important component of modern medical science. The scope of activity of specialists engaged in this area of the median, surgical treatment of congenital malformations and acquired diseases in children, extends to a very large and most promising part of the population.
Considering the areas of scientific and practical activity in this medical field, we can say that pediatric surgery is all surgery carried out in childhood, but with numerous anatomical and physiological features.
This program will train Pediatric Surgery residents in accordance with the six ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) core competencies.
The first two years of training will cover general rotations in surgical specialties such as general surgery, intensive care unit/anesthesiology, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, emergency cardiac surgery, trauma surgery, ambulatory surgery, providing one to three months of rotation experience.
The remaining three years will provide in-depth experience in all areas of pediatric surgery with rotations ranging from one to four months. Mandatory courses are aimed at deepening the knowledge and skills of a pediatric surgeon in the field of emergency surgery, acquiring skills and abilities in the prevention of diseases, disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system and their treatment using medicinal, surgical and physical methods.

Program aims are:
To train a specialist pediatric surgeon who is able to independently perform his role at an advanced level in the six core competencies of ACGME and is able to apply the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities in the prevention of diseases, as well as the treatment of surgical diseases of childhood using medical, surgical and physical methods.
To prepare the resident to lead the interprofessional and multidisciplinary teams required to care for patients. Instill habits of professionalism and lifelong learning.
